Each off-season MMWA students participate in camps offered through Mt. Mansfield Ski Club. These camps are an integral part of our program and give our athletes the time and space they need to focus on fundamental skill development without the pressure of competition season. These trips are available to all our current athletes, but also to prospective athletes. Training camps are a great way to learn about our program and get to know coaches and teammates.
For the past few years our annual fall training camp has been in Vail, Colorado. This is a great opportunity for our athletes to train for two weeks on the most reliable early season snow in North America. This trip is a very important lead in to the season and gives our athletes the focus they need to start the season. During the camp period, students continue to receive academic support from MMWA teachers who make the trip.
MMSC’s Summer Alpine Training Camp is in Les Deux Alpes, France. Les Deux Alpes provides training on Europe’s second largest skiable glacier and has truly ideal summer ski conditions. Not only is the training phenomenal, but Les Duex Alpes is also a world-class resort town. It’s winter-like conditions at the top, but the resort is in full summer swing with all sorts of warm weather amenities and activities. Our athletes spend two weeks training alongside the world’s best on our own blocked off lanes, and soaking in all that south eastern France has to offer.
